The Biggest Dog in the Fight

To me, the violence that is happening around the world in Egypt, in the island nation in this article is something I can't wrap my head around.  I mean, why is it o.k. when you don't agree with something to start shooting and drop tear gas.  But then one with an American societal stand point can't judge someone where their government does the same back, or even instigates the force.  So, ethically one (meaning I) struggles with the right course of action.  Ghandi and Martin Luther King, Jr. where advocates of nonviolent protests.  They seemed to work for them (well, most would say that).  But, it has to be hard.  What is the right thing to do?

  1. I agree. Maybe because deep down I think I am part hippie...but isn't there an easier way? what is acceptable and isn't anymore?

  2. I think the author did an amazing job of painting a picture for the reader here. The words make the reader feel for the victims and really question what he or she may believe about what's going on over there.
